Mahkota Medical Centre Supports Community Health at Segamat’s Pink October Carnival

SEGAMAT, 10 OCTOBER 2026 – Mahkota Medical Centre collaborated with The Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat - BCSS, the organiser of the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Carnival, to promote health awareness and support access to affordable health assessments for the Segamat community.

Held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the carnival brought together community members, breast cancer survivors and healthcare partners to encourage greater attention to personal health, timely screening and mutual support.

Through the collaboration with Mahkota Medical Centre, 50 participants were given the opportunity to undergo a basic health assessment at a special rate of RM38. This initiative formed part of the event’s wider effort to encourage residents to better understand their health and take an active role in caring for themselves.

The carnival also featured basic health checks, body composition assessments, nerve function tests, bone density screening and foot health awareness activities, giving participants opportunities to learn more about different aspects of their wellbeing.

In her opening address, the wife of the Segamat District Officer, who also chairs the Segamat District Women Employees’ Association, encouraged women to overcome fear and embarrassment and come forward for health checks. She emphasised the importance of early detection and healthy lifestyle habits, urging the public not to wait until pain or worsening symptoms prompted them to seek medical attention.

The event also recognised the strength and perseverance of breast cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment. Beyond raising awareness, it highlighted the value of emotional support, shared experiences and companionship for patients and their families.

Representing the organising committee chairperson, the association’s secretary shared that the Pink October programme aimed to improve health literacy, provide access to accurate medical information and encourage participants to take timely action to protect their own health and that of their families.

Mahkota Medical Centre thanks the organising association for the opportunity to support this meaningful community initiative. Through collaborations with local organisations, the hospital continues to bring health awareness and care closer to communities such as Segamat.
