Mahkota Medical Centre Launches Exclusive Health and Leisure Card in Collaboration with Melaka Local Entities to Boost Tourism Melaka
Mahkota Medical Centre strengthens its position as a medical tourism leader with the launch of its Health & Leisure Card and International Patient Centre, uniting healthcare and tourism in Melaka.
Melaka, 18 APR 2025 – Mahkota Medical Centre (MMC), a leading healthcare provider in South Malaysia, is proud to announce the launch of its exclusive Health and Leisure Card for international patients, a strategic initiative designed to enhance patient experience by combining premium healthcare services with leisure benefits. This initiative is being launched in partnership with a number of local businesses and tourism partners in Melaka.
MMC is the pioneer and leader of medical tourism in Malaysia, the first mover in Indonesia with strong brand recognition with around 95,000 foreign patients annually. In conjunction with Melaka hosting World Tourism Day 2025 and Visit Malaysia 2026, MMC has made the effort to provide added value to MMC’s international patients by offering special discounts and privileges at participating hotels, restaurants, and attractions across Melaka. This innovative program contributes to the tourism ecosystem and also strengthens partnerships between healthcare and local businesses.
YB Datuk Ngwe Hee Sem, Exco Kesihatan, Sumber Manusia dan Perpaduan, Melaka, represented YAB Datuk Seri Utama AB Rauf Bin Yusoh, Chief Minister of Melaka, to officiate this event. “This launch marks a significant milestone in Melaka’s journey towards becoming a a premier destination for healthcare excellence and integrated medical tourism in the region. The Health & Leisure Card and International Patient Centre are visionary initiatives that not only enhance patient experience but also stimulate economic growth through tourism and service industries. “Our goal is to offer a holistic healthcare experience that extends beyond medical treatment,” said CEO of Mahkota Medical Centre, Teo Chin Yee. “Through this collaboration, international patients who holding the card could get an exclusive offer from all the local entities in Malaysia, ensure they have a smooth and pleasant journey.”
The Health and Leisure Card is issued for international patients who have membership with NGOs, social groups, or private companies that have Smart Partnership with MMC. Cardholders are able to enjoy a range of exclusive benefits, including hospital services discounts, special discounts on accommodations at partner hotels, privileges at selected restaurants, and access to cultural and tourist attractions at reduced rates.
MMC is proud to introduce the International Patient Centre (IPC)—a dedicated one-stop facility designed to provide seamless and personalized support for international patients from the moment they touch down. Located conveniently within the hospital, the IPC ensures a hassle-free healthcare journey, offering services such as luggage storage, transport arrangements, flight and ferry rebates, visa and visit pass extensions, and verification of discharge documentation. The IPC is available Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, helping international patients with everything from appointment scheduling to post-discharge assistance, until they safely return to their home country.
