Featured in China Press: Mahkota Medical Centre and Seck Kia Eenh Unite for Community Wellness Through Early Detection Health Programme

Melaka, 22 June 2025 – In its unwavering commitment to preventive healthcare, Mahkota Medical Centre partnered with Seck Kia Eenh to deliver the Community Wellness & Early Detection Health Programme at Wisma Seck Kia Eenh today. Building on the success of last year’s “Empower & Protect” Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, this year’s initiative expanded its scope to include screenings for chronic diseases and early cancer detection—reinforcing the lifesaving power of early intervention.

A Shared Vision for Preventive Healthcare
In her opening address, Ms. Teo Chin Yee, Chief Executive Officer of Mahkota Medical Centre, highlighted the transformative impact of community collaboration: “Every screening is more than a test—it’s an opportunity for peace of mind, early intervention, or a step toward healthier living. Our mission is to equip the community with knowledge, accessible care, and the tools to take charge of their health proactively.”

The event provided free health screenings, including: Kidney and lipid profiles, glucose testing, tumour marker tests for prostate (men aged 40+) and ovarian cancer. Medical officers offered on-the-spot consultations, helping participants interpret results and guiding them toward necessary follow-up care.

Expert Insights: Knowledge as Prevention
A keynote talk by Dr. Tai Yong Ting, Consultant in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, titled “Check Your Numbers, Take Charge of Your Health”, emphasized the critical role of understanding health metrics in sustaining long-term wellness.

International Accredited Excellence in Healthcare

Mahkota Medical Centre’s leadership in preventive care is underscored by its Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation—a gold standard for quality and patient safety. The hospital is also Malaysia’s first to achieve Breast Cancer CCPC and Chronic Kidney Disease CCPC certifications, reflecting its evidence-based approach to tackling the region’s most pressing health challenges.

Gratitude and a Legacy of Collaboration
Mr. Tan Kim See, President of Seck Kia Eenh, thanked Mahkota Medical Centre and Ms. Teo for their trust in this partnership: *“As the saying goes, ‘prevention is better than cure.’ This initiative aligns perfectly with our shared goal of community welfare. Early detection saves lives, and we’re honored to continue our 20-year collaboration with Mahkota, which began with the Seck Kia Eenh Cancer Fund in 2000.”*
He echoed the Buddha’s teaching—“health is the greatest gain”—urging attendees to seize the rare opportunity for fully sponsored tests, made possible by this collaboration.

A Call to Action for Healthier Futures
Ms. Teo closed with a powerful reminder: “Small steps today lead to healthier tomorrows. At Mahkota Medical Centre, Your Wellness Journey Starts Here—through screenings, education, and outreach designed to empower individuals with confidence in their health.”
The strong turnout of about 250 publics ranging from 18 years and above, demonstrated growing public awareness of preventive care. Mahkota Medical Centre remains dedicated to fostering healthier communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, proving that partnerships can turn compassion into tangible impact.
