Collaboration Drives Mahkota Medical Centre’s Continued Excellence in Healthcare

MELAKA, 8 March 2026 – Mahkota Medical Centre’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Teo Chin Yee, said that excellence in healthcare cannot be achieved by a single institution alone, but is built through strong collaboration between doctors, nurses, multidisciplinary medical teams, corporate partners, and insurance providers.

She emphasised that only through close cooperation and shared commitment can a trusted healthcare ecosystem be created for the community. “Today, Mahkota Medical Centre continues to reach important milestones in both healthcare services and medical innovation. Among these achievements are the introduction of multidisciplinary, patient-centred care models, as well as internationally recognised programmes in breast cancer and chronic kidney disease management,” she said.

Ms Teo made these remarks during the Mahkota Medical Centre 32nd Anniversary Celebration – “Prosperity in Health: A Night Of Unity & Celebration”

She also highlighted that the hospital’s Smart Wards are now fully integrated into patient care, with digital healthcare systems placed directly at the bedside to streamline medical information and enhance efficiency, safety, and personalised patient care.

In terms of advanced medical technology, Mahkota Medical Centre currently operates two advanced surgical robotic systems. These include the hinotori™ Surgical Robot System from Japan, used for urology, gynaecology, and colorectal procedures, as well as the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, which is primarily used for total knee replacement surgery to improve surgical precision and patient recovery outcomes.

She added that Mahkota Medical Centre has also built strong partnerships with multiple insurance providers. Through initiatives such as blood donation drives, community health screenings, public health talks, and vaccination programmes, the hospital actively contributes to improving community health and wellbeing.

Ms Teo further announced several upcoming expansion plans, including the establishment of additional specialist medical centres, a new advanced pathology laboratory, and expanded health management and rehabilitation facilities.

Plans are also underway to construct an elevated pedestrian bridge connecting the hospital to the opposite parking area, providing safer and more convenient access for patients and visitors. Additional parking facilities within the hospital compound are also being planned.
