Mahkota Chemotherapy Day Care offers full nursing care and support for both in-patients and out-patients that undergo chemotherapy and anti-immunology treatment in our department.
The Chemotherapy Day Care is equipped with a Cytotoxic Drug Reconstitution room set up next to the department for better efficiency and convenience of work flow. It has a total of 12 recliners for the needs of chemo patients. One bed is available for necessary usage within the department.
The department consists of five full time nursing staff including one Head of Department with post-basic Oncology knowledge.
Our patients are mainly referred by the three full time Oncologists, one full time Haematologist and Internal Physician.
The Chemotherapy DayCare specialises in cancer management using drugs. This includes prevention, early detection, treatment as well as rehabilitation to ensure that cancer cells are appropriately managed and do not spread out to surrounding tissues, or to other parts of the body.
Before patients undergo any treatment, they will be given adequate counseling on the side effects, dosages and after treatment care. Chemotherapy can help cure, control or ease cancer symptoms for a patient.
