The Radiology Department at Mahkota Medical Centre is dedicated to serving the needs of physicians and patients in the delivery of superior, cost-effective radiological services and consultation at all levels of care.
Radiology services are available 24 hours a day to both adults and children. Its function is to assist in diagnosis, thus ensuring effective and timely treatment for the disease. We will ensure that patients are comfortable and confident in the services received in the Radiology Department.
Our Radiology Department provides a wide range of services including clinical diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures. The latest addition to our department is the 64-Slice Spiral Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner. Other modalities available include a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Scanner and other equipment to enable breast imaging, cardiovascular imaging, chest imaging, gastrointestinal imaging, fluoroscopy, urology, ultrasound, vascular and interventional radiology.
A MRI scan does not involve radiation but it is not recommended for everyone. It does not scan fast, in comparison to a CT scanner. Those with metal objects in their bodies, (ie. pacemakers, metal parts) may not be allowed to undergo an MRI.
CT technique uses X-rays to obtain cross-sectional images of the body and can be used from head to toe. Using sophisticated software and powerful computers, data can then be reconstructed to give images in almost virtually any plane of the body. For diagnostic use, CT is a proven modality.
