Mahkota Charity Run 2023 Successfully Raises More Than Rm120k Fund For Breast Cancer Patients On Pink October Month

The run aims to raise breast cancer awareness and supports women who are battling breast cancer

MELAKA, 8 OCTOBER 2023 - Mahkota Medical Centre’s (MMC) signature event – In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the 5th Mahkota Charity Run 2023 with the chosen theme “Breast Cancer Heroes Run” was attended by almost 3000 runners, coming together for a cause and successfully raised a total of RM122,788 fund to support all the brave women who are battling for breast cancer.

MMC, one of the four finalists in the prestigious Flagship Malaysia Tourism Hospital, has recently been reaccredited with the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation again and is also the first hospital in Malaysia accredited with Breast Cancer Clinical Care Programme Certification (CCPC). In line with the breast cancer theme, all the proceeds collected from Mahkota Charity Run 2023 will be channelled to its charity partners, the National Cancer Society Malaysia and Seck Kia Eenh Cancer Fund Melaka, non-governmental organisations.

“This event was created to fight breast cancer by raising awareness and funds for survivorship management”, said Mr Stanley Lam, CEO of MMC. Mahkota Charity Run 2023 was officiated by Mr Stanley Lam, CEO of MMC; Ms Teo Chin Yee, Deputy CEO of MMC; Datuk Mohd Ridhwan bin Mohd Ali, Honorary Advisor of National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) Melaka Chapter;Khoo Poay Tiong, MP Kota Melaka; sponsors and the race partner.

“At NCSM, we work with one vision in mind, which is to ensure that no Malaysian fears cancer by creating an understanding of cancer that leads to prevention and early detection and by providing the best possible care and support for those affected by cancer,” said Datuk Mohd Ridhwan bin Mohd Ali, Honorary Advisor of NCSM Melaka Chapter.

Ms Teo Chin Yee, Deputy CEO of MMC, as the closing speaker of the day, said, “I am thrilled to announce that, collectively, we have raised an astounding RM122,788 to support our mission. This remarkable achievement showcases what we can accomplish when we come together with a common purpose. “

MMC introduces a range of carnival-themed experience. The carnival site is brought to life with a pink vehicle parade, Zumba dance, 360-degree photo booth, Milo truck, Mamee truck, mascot appearance, a performance by breast cancer survivors, a lucky draw, and more.

The event ended with the announcement of the total charity fund collected from the run, and over 100 participants won the lucky draw prizes. Participants still can continue uploading their photos/ videos to our social platforms, and stand a chance to win the Best Dressed Contest.
